Settings Reference
Every NotBot setting, the default, and what it changes.
Last updated 2026-07-25 · Applies to NotBot 1.3.14+
Every user-facing setting in NotBot, grouped to match the Settings modal.
The Settings modal in NotBot is organized into tabs:
- Settings: the most common controls.
- Advanced: printer routing, milestones, skip toggles and name filters, card breaks, the first-time buyer star, win snapshots, label mode controls for Buyer Only, webview permissions.
- About: app info, update channel, re-run setup wizard.
Settings tab
Print Settings
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Printer | (none) | Select which physical printer NotBot sends labels to. The dropdown is populated from your operating system. Click Refresh to rescan. If no printer is selected, NotBot still tracks events but does not print. |
| Print Mode | Buyer Only | One of Every Item, Buyer Only, or Every Item + Buyer. See Print Modes. |
| Label Size | 2x3 | Size of the thermal labels in your printer. One of 1x1, 2x1, 1x3, 2x3, or 4x6. See Label Sizes. |
| Print box label for new buyers | On | Shown only in Every Item + Buyer mode. Controls whether a separate buyer label prints when a new buyer appears (in addition to the item label). Turning this off leaves item labels with the buyer number on them. It does not collapse the mode to Every Item. |
Test Print
A separate card on the Settings tab. Sends sample labels to your printer to verify everything is wired up, through the same print path used during a show. Two buttons: Test Auction Label and Test Buyer Label (the buyer button only shows in Buyer Only and Every Item + Buyer modes). The buttons report what happened right underneath: a confirmation when the label goes to the printer, or the reason it failed.
Desktop Notifications
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Show popup on your desktop | On | Master toggle for winner notifications. With it off, no popup appears for any event type. |
Everything else about popups lives outside the Settings modal. The per-type controls (on/off, screen, spot, size, timing, entry animation for auctions, giveaways, and purchases) live on the Customize → Popup Settings page, where you click where you want the popup on a picture of your displays. What the popup looks like is designed on Customize → Popup Design. A Try It button previews the real popup.
Auto-print (live toggle in the dashboard)
The Auto-print toggle lives in the Live Activity panel on the Dashboard, not the Settings modal. It is on by default. Turn it off to pause printing mid-show without losing event tracking. See When NotBot Prints for what auto-print off actually changes.
Advanced tab
Printer Configuration (per printer)
Each printer has its own configuration. The fields appear when a printer is selected.
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Feed Direction | Auto (landscape for most sizes; portrait on Mac for 4x6) | Tells NotBot how your printer feeds labels. Landscape: long side feeds first (Rollo, Munbyn). Portrait: short side feeds first (DYMO, Brother). |
| Media / Roll | Auto-detect | The specific label roll loaded in your printer. Auto-detect picks the right size from the list your printer reports. If labels print at the wrong size or get cut off, picking the exact roll dimensions here usually fixes it. |
Preview Mode
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Preview Mode | Off | When on, labels open as PDF files in your system viewer instead of going to the printer. Useful for designing templates. Not a replacement for a real test on show day. |
Bonus Labels (milestone)
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Auto-print at purchase milestones | Off | Master toggle for bonus labels. |
| Every N events | 7 | Interval. A bonus label fires when the buyer's count of qualifying events hits N, 2N, 3N, and so on. |
| Label text | BONUS LABEL | The text printed on the bonus label. |
| Count auction wins | On | Whether auction wins count toward the milestone counter. |
| Count Buy It Now purchases | On | Whether Buy It Now purchases count toward the milestone counter. |
| Count giveaway wins | Off | Whether giveaway wins count toward the milestone counter. |
For what the bonus label looks like in each print mode, see When NotBot Prints.
Reprint Buyer Label (milestone)
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Reprint at purchase milestones | Off | Master toggle. When on, a buyer's box label reprints every N events in cases that already produce buyer labels. |
| Every N events | 7 | The reprint interval. |
| Count auction wins | On | Whether auction wins count toward the reprint counter. |
| Count Buy It Now purchases | Off | Whether Buy It Now purchases count toward the reprint counter. |
| Count giveaway wins | Off | Whether giveaway wins count toward the reprint counter. |
First-Time Buyer Star
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Star box labels for first-time buyers | On | Prints a star in the corner of the box label when Whatnot marks the winner as a first-time buyer, so you can spot which boxes get a welcome card. Applies to auction wins. Move or restyle the star with the Star element in the Label Designer. Turning this off also disables every Label Designer element whose visibility is set to First-time buyers only. |
Pinned Shop Listings
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Treat pinned shop listings as Buy It Now | On | When a seller pins a shop Buy It Now listing and runs it as an auction in the show, treat the sale as a Buy It Now purchase. Turn off to fall back to the older auction handling for these events. |
Buyer Mode Labels (Buyer Only mode only)
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Giveaway labels | Item label | Picks how giveaway wins print in Buyer Only mode. One of Item label, Buyer label only, or Buyer + item labels. |
| Purchase labels | Item label | Same options, applied to Buy It Now purchases. |
Event Filters
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Skip giveaways | Off | Don't print any label or assign a buyer number for giveaway wins. The giveaway still appears in show history. |
| Skip Buy It Now purchases | Off | Don't print any label or assign a buyer number for any Buy It Now purchase. This covers regular, flash sale, and pinned Buy It Now sales, so it also skips flash sales when on. |
| Skip flash sales | Off | Don't print any label or assign a buyer number for flash sale purchases. Regular Buy It Now purchases are unaffected. Use this when you handle flash sales separately from the items you pack and number during the show. |
| Skip accepted offers | Off | Don't print any label or assign a buyer number when you accept an offer. The sale is still recorded in show history and totals. Use when you handle accepted offers separately from the items you pack during the show. |
| Print label on payment failure | On | When a payment fails after the show, print an item label so you can pull the order before shipping. The label shows a PENDING PAYMENT badge. |
Skip Buy It Now vs. Skip flash sales: Skip Buy It Now purchases is the broad filter and already includes flash sales. The narrower Skip flash sales toggle exists so you can suppress flash-sale labels only while keeping regular Buy It Now printing.
Skip by item name
A rule list rather than a single toggle. Each rule skips the label and buyer number for items whose name matches a tag you set, like "(B)" for break spots. Add one rule per tag, choose whether it matches the start of the item name or anywhere in it, and choose which sale types it applies to: auctions, Buy It Now purchases, or offers, independently. Rules can be toggled on and off individually without deleting them.
The skipped sale still appears in show history; it just doesn't print or consume a buyer number. Useful for break and raffle listings that should not use up a box number.
Card Breaks
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Card Breaks | Off | For random card breaks: wait for the randomizer before printing, so labels show the assigned team instead of the spot number. Tracks each break's spots and results in show details and reports, with a live progress card on the dashboard while a break is filling. Off: break spots print at purchase like any other sale. |
| Print break labels as spots are assigned | Off | Shown when Card Breaks is on. On: each label prints the moment the randomizer assigns the spot, and a re-spin prints a replacement marked CORRECTED. Off: all of a break's labels print together, in spot order, when the break fills, so no label can ever show a superseded team. |
Win Snapshots
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Save a photo of each sale | Off | The moment an auction ends, the full screen of the show in the active tab is captured and kept with your local show history. Photos are removed when you clear or delete the show. |
| Photo quality | (shown when the toggle is on) | High, Standard, or Compact. Higher quality photos take more disk space. |
| Show photos folder | — | Opens the photo folder in Finder or Explorer. |
Per-Event Routing
In the Per-Event Routing card on the Advanced tab, you can route individual item labels to different printers and label sizes. These settings only affect item labels. Buyer/box labels are routed via the Buyer / Box Label setting above. Leave any column on the default option to inherit from the main Print Settings tab.
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Buyer / Box Label Printer | Use default printer | Every buyer/box label, regardless of which event triggered it, routes here. Keeps box labels consolidated to one printer so packers don't see the same buyer's box label appear on two machines. |
| Buyer / Box Label Format | Use default size | Same idea, for the buyer label's size. |
| Per-event item printer | Use default printer | Override the item-label printer for a specific event type. Five rows: Auction win, Buy It Now, Offer accepted, Giveaway win, Payment failure. |
| Per-event item label format | Use default size | Same, for the size. |
Accepted-offer detection is currently Whatnot-only; see Platform Support.
Webview Permissions
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Allow camera and microphone | Off | Lets the built-in browser request camera and mic access so you can go live from your computer through NotBot. Most sellers go live from a phone instead and leave this off. |
The browser's audio mute is not toggled here. It's controlled by the speaker icon in the browser bar of the built-in browser, not in this Settings section.
Browser cache controls
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Clear browser cache and restart | Wipes the built-in browser's cookies and storage and relaunches NotBot. Useful if a platform login gets stuck. Your NotBot account, settings, and show history are unaffected. |
Startup Tabs
A drag-and-drop list of tabs that automatically reopen the next time NotBot launches. Add a tab to this list by right-clicking it in the browser bar and selecting Keep this tab open on launch.
